A loss assessor is an independent claims expert who works on your behalf in helping you get the maximum payment that you deserve from the insurance company. The main duties of a loss assessor includes approaching the claims intelligently, discussing the issue with the policy holder in detail,  helping the policy holder in moving to a temporary location, assessing the damage and coming up with an estimate for the loss. The loss assessor will have to negotiate a descent claim with the loss adjuster. The loss assessor will go through the fine print of your policy before negotiating a descent settlement.

 

The assessor needs to have certain qualities. He should have excellent communication skills, ability to tackle a claim intelligently, must be a hard working person. He should also be methodical in his approach and a self motivating individual. Most importantly when you hire a loss adjuster make sure that he is an experienced professional who has dealt with many successful claims before.
