Why 0800 number is called a freephone number
0800 numbers and other such numbers a re frequently referred as freephone numbers. The reason is that the caller of 0800 number is charged nothing; so it is free for him. I.e. your customer or any caller who calls on your 0800 number will be charged nothing and hence he dials a 0800 number for free. Instead the called entity will be charged according to the package that he has bought . i.e. if you have bought a 0800 number and your customers will call you; so their will no call charges for the customer and that you will be charged for all the calls received.
But this cost to you will pay you back in terms of increased calls , more enquiries, more feedback, increased quality and hence more satisfied customers. However, this is why 0800 numbers a re also called freephone number because of no charges to the caller.
